Welcome to Mrs. Callahan's Web Page!!! :-)

A little about me:
I have a B.A. in English from East Tennessee State University with a minor in Latin.  I began my teaching career in Bristol, TN teaching high school English and Latin.  I have also taught high school English in Thomasville, GA and junior high English in Tomball, TX.  This is my seventh year at Magnolia Sixth, and I love teaching sixth grade! English has always been my favorite subject, and I enjoy sharing my passion for it with my students.
I live in Magnolia with my husband and two daughters: one is a sophomore engineering major at UT-Austin, and one is a freshman at MWHS.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, hiking/ walking/running and watching really weird independent movies on TV.
I thrive on positivity and make that a part of my classroom culture.  My wish is for all students to leave my room with a positive, meaningful learning experience.
I am looking forward to an AMAZING year at Magnolia Sixth Grade!

Our next summative grade will be a poetry test on Friday, Nov. 20.  I will be sending home a study guide, but you may also find a copy attached to this page!

Homework 2nd 9 Weeks

We will no longer have the 45 minutes of writing homework 2nd 9 weeks. Instead, I am encouraging students to complete at least 1 Achieve 3000 article at home each week.  Students who do not have internet access at home are welcome to come to my room before school on Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday mornings.
