Help Keep Your Students Healthy

Healthy kids come to school ready to learn. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission would like to work with Texas schools to help families learn more about the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Children’s Medicaid, two health insurance options for children available at little or no cost.

Help Families Get Coverage

Both programs cover office visits, prescription drugs, dental care, eye exams, glasses, and much more. To qualify for CHIP/Children’s Medicaid, a family must meet income guidelines. Families with children who get Children’s Medicaid pay nothing and children with CHIP pay no more than $50 a year for health care coverage.

Children’s Medicaid and CHIP cover one out of every three children in Texas. Families can visit www.CHIPmedicaid.org to learn more or complete an online application. There is no enrollment period so families can apply at any time.
